Intrauterine Insemination

What is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)?

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a simple and minimally invasive fertility treatment in which specially washed and concentrated sperm is placed directly into the uterus during ovulation. By placing healthy sperm closer to the egg, IUI increases the chances of fertilization and pregnancy.

This treatment is commonly recommended for couples facing unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility, ovulation issues, or cervical mucus problems. The procedure is quick, painless, and performed in a clinic without the need for surgery or anesthesia.

Process

1. Fertility Evaluation – The doctor assesses both partners and tracks ovulation.

2. Sperm Preparation – A semen sample is processed to select healthy, active sperm.

3. Insemination – The prepared sperm is placed into the uterus using a thin catheter.

4. Pregnancy Test – A test is performed about two weeks after the procedure.
